ICE MACHINES
- A surge protector will save on costly repairs. Most newer washers have a lot of electronics. If you protect your computer you should do the same with your washer.
- Newer washers use less water. In return it will leave behind soap scum which will cause two issues:
- you will get a very bad smell in your washer and it can cause major failures because the soap will destroy your main seal
- your bearing will fail and your unit will sound like a jet engine when it's in the final spin
- When you're running larger loads lower the spin speed to low or medium. This will protect your unit from vibrating a lot and causing parts to wear out faster.
- Washer hoses should be changed out every 5 years. If they are rubber we recommend to use a stainless braded hose.
- Newer washers need to have "he" soap and only use 2-4 tablespoons of soap each load or you can use pods and only use one pod per load
Dryer tips
- The dryer vent inside the wall should be cleaned yearly. It is also good to get the inside of the dryer cleaned and inspected when you get the vent cleaned to help prevent a fire.
- Clean your lint filter every load. Air flow is very important for your dryer to work efficiently.
- Change the gas line to the wall for gas dryers every 5 years
- If you have a steam dryer there is normally a water line that goes to the dryer just like the washer hoses. This hose should be replaced every 5 years and we recommend a stainless braded hose.
- Some dryers have a sensor dry feature. This feature is actually meant to have the clothes slightly damp! We get a lot of calls on this issue and we recommend that if you want your clothes all the way dry to use the manual dry/time dry feature on the dryer.
- If you have a unit that has a sensor dry feature do not dryer sheets. Using them will create a film on the sensors and they will not work correctly.
Dishwasher Tips
- Jet dry or rinse aid is a must on newer dishwashers. They need it for the drying process if you don't use it your dishes will not dry properly.
- We highly recommend getting a moisture detector sensor and placing it under the dishwasher. We see too many floors and cabinets get water damage because of a small leak.
- Use a dishwasher cleaner like AAfresh or dishwasher magic once a month. This will keep the unit clean, smelling good, and will also prevent internal parts from failing.
- If the inlet hose is a copper line we highly recommend replacing it with a stainless braded line because we have seen copper lines fail and flood houses.
Refrigerator Tips
- We highly recommend putting a surge protector on your refrigerator!
- Once a year the condenser coil needs to be cleaned. It will collect dust if it gets to dirty which can cause the compressor to fail or improper cooling.
- Water filter should be replaced every six months. Failure to do this can cause the screen in the filter to fail and carbon rocks to get stuck in the water line causing other minerals or materials to be dispensed
- If the water line to the fridge is copper, we recommend to change it out to a stainless braded line we have had cooper lines break and flood houses
RANGE, COOKTOP AND OVEN TIPS
- This is very important! When you run a self-clean cycle on your oven you have to open the warming drawer half way to help airflow if you have a wall oven you can open the drawer or cabinet under the oven.
- Gas lines to ovens should be replaced every 5 years.
- On electric-glass cooktops, cast iron pans should never be used. This can cause the glass top to crack.
ICE MACHINES
- An ice machine cleaner has to be ran in the unit at least every six months. Calcium build-up will damage sensors and give dirty ice.
- If your ice machine has a built-in water filter they need to be replaced once a year.
- Condenser coils need to be cleaned once a year. Dirty coils can cause slow ice production or failure of the compressor.
